.:: Moments in MuSic :: Kurupt feat. DJ Quik - "Nine times out of Ten"
..aiiight, check it - when i first heard this joint and saw this video I felt like '96 all over again! Seriously, I've been a major fan of West Coast music since a tad-pole & when Death Row was the powerhouse, Dr. Dre was kicking out the fire joints -- I kept the Dogg Pound in the deck! These two cats had incredible flow -- and on this one Kurupt kinda reminds me of a west coast Keith Murray. But thats always been his flow, incredible if you ask me! All the other come back efforts fell short, but those didn't include the talents of the homie DJ Quik! Check it out & tell me if this joint don't keep you pulled in by the collar!

Guilty Pleasures..
You know I really get tired of seeing so many so-called Reality Shows... I mean its gets so simple. So redundant.. but OK, there are always one or many two that I find a way to capture my attention.MAKING THE BAND is definitely one, and its exceptional.. and here comes the second one, "For The Love of Ray J" -- this dude is just funny to me. He's an actor no doubt, but its just funny to see him in character! ..and a sample of his character is right here in this video! LOL! This dude is silly, but its entertaining.. check this dude out yall!

.:: Moments in MuSic :: Keri Hilson - "Knock You Down" ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo
You know what... I can't lie yall. I can't watch this video too much.. and it's not because its a bad video or I dislike the song. No, its not that, its quite the opposite! I love the song, and if you don't know by now, i'm a avid Kanye & Ne-Yo fan. Both are crazy talented. But then, in comes Keri Hilson. *sigh* ..OK, check this out. I have this running list of top 5 females in Entertainment that I dig right...and I swear, Keri is starting to knock one of them into the #6 position!! Sure, I don't see Alicia Keys or Paula Patton being replaced anytime soon, but my other favorites Keyshia Cole, Beyonce & Ciara are on shaky ground! Well Ciara did do justice with her latest song & video with Jeezy, but um just sayin..
no one is safe!
..and Yea I said Beyonce!! Beyonce is a queen no doubt, but Keri has a nice street pretty flava about her that I dig. The same reason why Keyshia Cole is a top lister! ...except Keri is a lil' mo' prettier than Keyshia! LOL!! But hey, I'm not shallow like that folks, i love the talent, i love what they stand for -- and thats what make them in my top 5. Well, I don't know much about Paula Patton, but she showl is pretty and she does a fine job acting! right?? LOL!!
Anywho -- without further adieu, I'll like to introduce to you, the next chart topping song AND video.. my new girl, Keri Hilson in Knock You Down featuring my dudes Kanye & Ne-Yo!!

.:: Moments in MuSic :: Jamie Foxx - Blame it >> Directed by Hype Williams

...For any of you music & video fans, you should already know that director HYPE WILLIAMS is a LEGEND in the music video game! Man, this is so CLASSIC Hype Williams I don't know even know what to say!
It reminds me of when Bad Boy had Hype do like all of their artist videos -- we're talking Notorious B.I.G, we're talking Total, we're talking Craig Mack, Ma$e -- all of them joints were rolling out back-to-back!
And this my friend is classic Hype Williams! The deep rich colors, slow motion, the angles!! MAN I LOVE THIS STUFF!! Creativity folks, Creativity!! LOVE IT!
OK, i get a little bit worked up over this level of talent and videography. But, since this IZZZZ suppose to be about the Jamie Foxx's song, lolol!! ..Now, I'll say when first heard this song, and I heard T-Pain's verse -- I already knew what this was... an absolute radio, club BANGER! ...so they took the certified BANGER and placed the vision in the hands of Hype Williams, so now you have instant Grammy material. I mean, freakin' Ron Howard is in the video man! ...freakin RON HOWARD maane!! *sigh* -- I hope yall feelin' me on this... well anyway -- here it is!

.:: Moments in MuSic :: Jazmine Sullivan - "In Love With Another Man" (Short Film)

My girl, whose LP I've YET to cop (or find online) *evil grin*, has another nice lil' joint out called "In Love With Another Man". The title alone makes you think of Chris Brownin' ya girl if she came with something like this! NEVERTHELESS, the creativity of the song, the video, all I love..
So check it out, its titled a 'Short Film', i suppose because its slightly longer than a typical video, plus with the storyline. Speaking of storylines, I'm glad there are no more "Trapped in the Closet" videos and songs!! Sweeew.. and where is Kells nowadays?? Anywho, I digress.. here's my girl Jazmine!

Michael Jackson announces Final Hoorah!
Michael Jackson announces his "FINAL CURTAIN CALL" -- he's last "HOORAH"! All i got to say is ABOUT TIME!! Look at this guy... if Michael hadn't had a thousand and two plastic surgeries, he would probably look more human-like. Of course the news media still brands him as "Jacko" (like Jackal), its not a compliment, i assure you.. its a mockery.

Samuel L. Jackson slated for the remaking of The Last Dragon?!
What do yall know about The Last Dragon huh?! Well, do your homework because it looks like my man Samuel L. Jackson is slated to star as the over-powering Sho'nuff!! Man I can't wait!
-------------
Samuel L. Jackson has the right stuff to play Sho'nuff. The actor is set to star in a remake of the 1985 cult martial arts classic The Last Dragon. Originated by the late Julius Carry, Sho'nuff is the self-proclaimed Shotgun of Harlem, who answers his own questions (e.g. "Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?") with "Sho'nuff."Something tells us, Jackson won't have any trouble playing the "baddest mofo."The 1985 film, a critical bomb, but a financial success, tells the story of Leroy Green's pursuit to become the world's greatest martial arts artist, like his idol Bruce Lee, and achieve the status of the Last Dragon. 50Cent is a NUTT!!
Preface:
I don't know if any of yall have been following the 50Cent & Rick Ross beef -- but i got to say its been pretty entertaining. I think this is the most interesting one of them all for 50. Since he's income has increased (FORBES rank 50Cent second in income only to Oprah in the entertainment field), so with more disposable income -- when he goes hard on ya (beef), it cuts alot more deeper now! I'm posting some links below so that you can catch up on the time line of events. From Rick Ross dissing 50, to 50 calling it official then flying out Ross's son's mother (baby momma, if you will) and her dropping all kinds of bombs about Ross. And of course a few diss tracks, radio interviews and all in between!!
Now i'm going to say i liked 50 alot when he came out and then i kinda started disliking him slightly for going in on everyone, but i listened to alot of his interviews and this is not a stupid dude. He's very intelligent and knows how to market, and knows how to push the right buttons in warfare. So i stopped tripping and start just taking it for the entertainment it is...
Now is he right for the stuff he does -- i'm going to say, shoot.. 70% of the time i think: "Yo, Fif' didn't have to do that. Man, thats jacked up." But now i don't expect anything else from him other than for him to try to annihilate opposes as quickly as possible by any means necessary. So next up is Ricky Ross... i suppose. All i hope in all of this -- it ends well. From the looks of it though, its about to get ugly! Theres alot of personal stuff thats coming forth on Ross and i don't think he's really prepared to be exposed like this. He's danced around this previous correctional officer career he 'allegedly' had, but Fif is relentless -- he's coming with actual footage & all! He has all of Ross's financial statements that he was able to get because of the current child support case he has going on with his son's mom. Of course now that 50 has everything, Ross's lawyer is asking for a gag order in the trial so there's no more personal docs released (too little too late)!
Anywho! -- i'm not going to talk your ear off, the point of blog was to show this hilarious video of 50 making fun of the comments Rick made about him and the request for an apology from Foxy Brown!
Check the other links below to catch up or see more 50 vs Rick Ross beef episodes!!

...Fell in love again.
Right before I started this Blog i just noticed something -- I am definitely a Soul Brotha... Neo-Soul Brotha or whateva... its in my chemical fabric. I like classic -- i like timeless, and although I do enjoy fly-by-nights situations. I smoke quality cigars, i sip full-bodied wines. Heck, sometimes I even wonder where this comes from...
But i think know... its the gentlemen before me that I admired (Rudy Thomas), its my Grandfather's silent confidence, 'swagger' if you will (and i have something to say about the over-usage of that word, because to me 'Swagger' is the term now coined to explain something that someone poses NATURALLY -- but its false and paper-thin to me if 'money' or 'status' gives you this false sense of confidence or 'SWAGGER' (that way some use the word).
If you're not naturally from within charismatic, then anything outside of YOU doesn't give you swagger -- your just fronting. Not to be looked upon as something bad, but more or less 'Stunting' (as the term most favored today). 'Fronting' is not bad, per say, its only bad when you are 'perpatrating a front' (as in the old school would say). THEN you're not Fronting or Stunting, your perpatrating the 'front'... or attempting to 'stunt' -- when your really not. So when I see everyone and their momma talking about this person & that person got swagger -- its not always true -- they're just FRONTING! ...and its cool, hell I front and stunt too when its time too, but when you strip all that extra stuff away and if you can't stand in front of anyone without feeling insecure about what or who you are, what you can offer, what you can do -- then you ain't got swagger, pimpin'.
Now that i'm off the my soap box (my bad folk)!!
So as I was saying -- its my Grandfather's silent confidence, my father's endless desire to be the best, and being from that era of Soul and Pride -- I myself feel in my natural element around Soulful music, soulful things, classic and timeless pieces... THUS this finally brings me to why I blogging today!!
I just recently saw my first 'play-play' baby momma in concert, and I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER ALL OVER AGAIN! Ya see, before there was Alicia Keys & Keshia Cole to me -- there was Cassandra Wilson, Meshell N'Dege Ochello, Amel Larrieux, Dionne Farris & many more -- but my first 'play-play' baby momma (and I use that term loosely, not to offend) was ERYKAH BADU!! Man I love that chic -- she's soul, but street soul, ya dig? She's a little more edgey, she's my Angela Davis type. That fits for me even better, cause umma Malcolm X, Chuck D type, lol!!
Sooo... let me re-introduce to you -- none other than, my "i buy every album" lady, my favorite rappers 'real' baby momma,my 'maybe next life time' shuga -- ERYKAH BADU!!!
..and one of my all time favorites!

Anotha moment in Music - by SlickGilchrist!
OK.. so there's this black guy, asian guy and a jewish guy -- the black guy says to the asian guy...
Aaah I'm messin' witcha'.. I ain't got no stupid BS racist jokes. So anyways.. check this out --- MY NEW JOINT, MY NEW NEW FAVORITE JOINT IS...
'DEM FRANCHISE BOYZ's "Talkin' Out the Side of Ya Neck!" (not to be confused with Kameo's old school version)
Thats right, I said it!! This is my new joint!! Now I'm picky.. I'm hip-hop... I love lyricist -- but i'm also a dirty south resident straight from the wild West (Edgemont, Fairview, Patton, and all the other streets in West Montgomery!! LOL) -- so nevertheless there are some joints thats like -- WHAT?! THESE CATS SNAPPIN'!!! So in this case... again... just like my last flavor of the month (Cassidy's 'Drink & Two Step'), its the beat, its the chorus...
When you write songs, compose songs or what ever.. its a method and a formula.. a winning formula... and in that formula consists a strong dosage of a dynamic rhythm and an addictive chorus... and it doesn't really matter what type or style of music you have.. you will capture someone's ears and done right, you will hold it. Smartly enough these guys have JD (Jermaine Dupre) behind them... JD is gonna put those hits out there for ya -- trust me. This right here, although I haven't heard it THAT MUCH (in comparison to some crap) on the radio, is a hit and it has extended life. Whats extended life? You hear them horns? You even see the sprinkles of extended life in the video with the band playing it.... so August during College Football season, heck even now during SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) basketball play, you probably will hear the band playing it NOW! Its just one of those songs, ya dig?
So yeah, Thats my new joint and I can't hear it enough!!!
You can't dig it?? ..I'm sorry, I-can't-hear-ya... you really don't like it? Sorry, I-can't-hear-ya.... if you ain't watch the video then I really can't hear ya!!!
Get some!! Press Play!

My Addiction... at least one of them...
Its been a long time right? So one could be askin...
"Sooo uuuh... Kalonji, KG, Slick or however you are today -- where have you been? Surely work and business hasn't taken ALL of your spare time?"
Well I can't lie, during my down time, since like... September 25th, a quarter after mid-nite I've been on some ol' online killin' situations. Just in case you've been under a rock for a month or so, HALO 3 launched on XBOX 360 in September and being the competitor I am, I've been on it 5-6 days a week! Its a sick addiction, I admit... I know, I know, I know what you're thinkin' -- "Fam, its a video game -- what the cuff?!"
but you have to understand my position now.. what I've created.. which in retrospect, the same way I am offline... ya dig?
No, not yet.. of course not, so let me explain...
I've been messin' with Halo since Halo 2, and I created a Gamertag (online gamer name) the same as my pen name and persona: "SlickVision", so I ran with that, and quickly got pretty good with the game, considering this was one of the first games I purchased after getting a XBOX.
I started to ran with a crew online, and we started winning and killin' cats --- well, me.. just checkin' out the various gamertag out there, i see a lot of cats tailored their names to what they doing online or some fictional character... for example you would see: "Charles Manson", "Al Cap0ne", "Killa Smurf" and a few variations of "Rick James" (R1ck James, Rick James01, etc..), so I started thinkin' -- being creative naturally, I said: "I ain't Italian of nothing, so I can be takin on a killer name, since I am killin' these cats on this game, I gotta have something I can develop into a beast and raise heads when opponents see me come online in their room -- i got it, OJ SIMPSON!"
Some much hated, contriversal killer, and not only that, he's black and he even got away with it. So, no pun on that, but really -- you gotta understand, these cats online are like the hip-hop game. You're name, you buzz you create, your record, your history is all challenged and you have to produce -- ESPECIALLY if you proclaim to be a killa, AND you carry the title "OJ SIMPSON". And thats not by mistake, I created a monster -- so now even on my bad days (when I'm tired from work and I just get online just to pass time) I get online and link up with my crew I usually play with, and as soon as I can get signed in good -- then cats IM me: "OOOOH HELL YAH, OJ ONLINE, BOY GET UR A$$ IN HERE, WE ABOUT TO MURDER THESE CLOWNS -- I KNOW U GONNA REPRESENT!!!!"
--- and just think, I'm tired as heck, shouldn't even be online, I should be sleep, but now this beast I've created has called for me to raise up and murder these cats online!! LOL!! Not only does that fuel the passion of competition, when I step in and the opposition gets to running their mouth: "Maaaan this guys name is OJ SIMPSON, I'm definitely gonna kill you -- you suck, i hate OJ".... so I'm like, "Oh really?" *smiling* -- and do you think I'm just gonna let these cats talk noise and not mash their heads?!! Please... I can't let my team down, and neither can i let these clown try to punk me!!
And its all my fault, on purpose... I created this monster, I created this buzz, so it my job to live up to it... so I produce! I can't disappoint man... thats not me. This is what I do, I'm a competitor, usually i lay low, but dont get me started, i'll show up and show out pimpin'! I can't disappoint -- I can't lose man; thats my approach, thats how I was built... blame my parents... Mom said "U can do anything, u can be anything" -- Dad said "Theres no number two, nobody remembers two, be number one, everyone loves a star, You gotta make them love you Slick"
So what am I to do? Disappoint? LOLOL!! Never.
Thats my mentality, though I'm very humble -- don't underestimate me... "swagger" is like the new buzz word, but in all honesty, I had "swagger" before it was defined as such (90's) -- I'm just glad theres a word to stamp what i've possessed for years now!! LOL!!
I'm just talkin' my sh** people, thats all --- are you not entertained?!!! But I'm so serious at the same time... lol.
Anywho, I digress... so where have I been -- online, playing Halo 3, fueling this addiction, being competitive, and killin' these lames!
Get at me!!!
